After all the hard work over the last few months and weeks, Monday is Press Day and a chance for the tired designers and teams to take a rest before the medals are revealed.
We are absolutely thrilled that our designer, Catherine MacDonald, foreman Will Gadd and their team received a GOLD medal for the Seedlip Garden. It is a stunning garden and a well deserved medal for all their efforts.
On Press Day, Catherine was filming an item with presenter Nick Bailey for the BBC. Catherine and Seedlip sponsor Ben Branson got a chance to speak to the Duchess of Cambridge, Princesses Beatrice & Eugenie & Prince Philip about the garden. Sadly no one had a camera to hand – so you’ll just have to take our word for it!
The Welcome to Yorkshire Show Garden, designed by Tracy Foster received a Silver medal. The Poetry Lover’s Artisan Garden, designed by Fiona Cadwallader, also received a Silver Medal. Both designers, Tracy and Fiona were pleased with their finished gardens.
Well done to foremen Steve & Ian and all the lads working on both of these gardens. Despite the challenges our teams faced building these two complex gardens in such a short time, they really pulled out all the stops and we are very proud of their hard work and dedication. The gardens are attracting a lot of attention and praise from visitors to the show.
The RHS Greening Grey Britain Exhibit (unjudged) attracted many visitors on Press Day and also got a lot of coverage from the BBC. Here is a BBC clip of designer Nigel Dunnett talking about the garden. A big thank you to Nigel’s lead planter on the garden Taina Suonio for these great pictures.
Now, time to enjoy the show week before everything is reinstated for another year. Then we will turn our attention to RHS Hampton Court Flower Show. No rest for the wicked!
